A new thing I’m struggling with since the move is being in my own apartment and buying things for it. I’m sure this is not a unique struggle, so I thought I’d share some of my apartment struggles and some things I did to work around it here.
The Problem: A Too Small Rug
Ever move into a new place and have no idea what size rug you should buy? Or find a rug online that you fell in love with but it’s not the right size? We had that issue with a rug we bought from Cost Plus World Market. I got drawn in by the sale price, then by the colors but saw too late that it was a foot too short for the couch we have.
I blindly ordered it hoping that I could make it work. Sadly, when it arrived, the 5’x7′ rug made our living room space look very awkward with gaps on both sides of the couch. The one positive was that it was slightly longer than 7′ because of the additional fringe on the sides.
The Fix: Strategic Placement & Decorative but Functional Basket
We strategically place the rug under the legs of the couch to give the appearance of a larger rug underneath. And I found the perfect sized basket to place next to the couch to cover the gap.
