About a year ago we had an engagement party for my sister and now brother-in-law (WOW! Time sure flies by!). My sister and I wore traditional Vietnamese ao dai’s for it that were custom-made from fabrics we had chosen ourselves. My sister’s had a gorgeous embroidery lace fabric overlay used for her ao dai. The seamstress gave us the scraps of the fabric after and like the hoarder that I am, I kept it knowing I’d end up using it sometime.
Well, the time is now, when I was getting tired of my trusty old denim jacket that I’ve had since college. With the embroidery trend getting bigger and bigger, I was inspired to have a denim jacket makeover DIY.

Lay out your lace pieces and decide where you want them.
Cut the pieces out carefully, leaving a half-inch seam allowance.
Either hand sew or machine sew the pieces in place. Or use fabric glue to keep them in place.
