DIY Convertible Blanket Wrap

DIY Convertible Blanket Wrap

One of my most popular DIYs is the convertible travel wrap because it’s a versatile piece that you can easily make in under an hour. Last month I had purchased a wrap from World Market that was basically a throw blanket with a slit down the middle. I used it like a blanket when I was visiting some friends recently because their apartment was so cold at night. As a result, I was inspired to add a zipper to make it into a DIY convertible wrap blanket. You can easily make this with fabric bought from a store, a thrifted blanket or a wrap scarf that you want to upgrade.

Procedures

If you’re starting with a blanket: cut a slit down the middle as shown. Be sure to measure your blanket so the cut is in the middle of the width of the blanket and is only as long has half of the length.

Open the zipper and pin to the slit on the blanket/wrap.

Sew the zipper to the blanket. I suggest using a zipper foot if you have one ( I misplaced mine so I had to make due with a different foot).

Go rock your new go-to travel piece! I brought mine on the plane to use as a blanket for a red-eye flight to New York, then later as a wrap and scarf when I arrived. DIY Convertible Blanket Wrap DIY Convertible Blanket WrapDIY Convertible Blanket Wrap
