A few weeks ago I had hit up one of Forever21’s end of the season sales that had an extra 50% of clearance and had a big haul. One of them was this dress that I wore in my recent DIY Layered Necklaces post the other month. I’ve since gotten a bit tired of the low v and decided I wanted to try DIY-ing one of the hottest trends for the past several seasons, a front lace up!
I’ve got to say this is the easiest DIY I’ve done to date! It requires minimal materials and took me about ten minutes to get it all done and ready to be worn. I did this on a whim not caring too much if I messed up the dress because it was so cheap, but I’m so happy that my DIY lace up dress worked out without too many mishaps and to share it with you all.
Grommet Kit (any size you want, I used Extra Large, 1.11cm) | Hammer | Dress with a Low V | 1 Yard of Rope or Ribbon
Take your dress to measure and mark where you want your grommets to be. I kept it to six because the grommets were on the larger side.
Follow the directions on the grommet kit on how to assemble and attach the grommets to the fabric.
If you attach the grommet correctly they should stay in place without any additional adhesive. I, however, messed up on my first one and had to use some super glue to keep the front and back pieces of the grommet together. You can’t tell though right??
Lace the rope or ribbon through after you’re done attaching all the pieces and you’re done!
